Privilege is the invisible expectation of a world that actually works like "it's supposed to". Schools teach kids, 911 comes when you call, people get treated for illnesses in hospitals, etc.

The rest of us? We aren't happy but also not surprised when our GPA is fucked by an administrative mistake, our parents die from misdiagnosed cancer or our phone service stops working inexplicably and without refund.

The difference between the system working and not working depends on who you are- are you the one the system works for?

Yep. I have my own tales that are so ubiquitous they're not worth telling.

My friend was telling me how there was a segment in her regional news about how pissed off Bristolians were that all the cab drivers had taken the weekend off for Eid.

When our boiler flooded our house on Christmas day, there was not a plumber to be found so we had to spend the day bailing water out as best we could, and replace our downstairs carpting.
