Shifting Contexts
Feb. 16th, 2009 12:26 pmSometimes when talking about racism, people like to bring up the fact of other historical prejudices in the past, for example, discrimination against the Irish in the US.
Of course, the other context is to consider how much it's happening right now*.
Because even though I'm part Irish, no one has run up on me and told me "You damn Micks are taking all our jobs!"
(* Nevermind you know, that just because other people are discriminated against, that it somehow invalidates the conversation at hand.)
