The fact is, and remains: you can't have productive work and cookies for oppressors in the same basket.
And only to the white supremacists does the latter seem like the former.

It is a truly sad thing that this statement hit me like a clue by four because I had allowed myself to be convinced otherwise.

Date: 2009-03-15 01:37 am (UTC)But seriously, this is stuff we need to know for our survival- the decolonization of our minds - we have to share it, what kind of person is ok with selling back pieces of someone else's soul? (wait... that's the problem in the first place, right?)
In context to Racefail, basically, white supremacists are all we have left going on about shit- the people who really wanted to know about how to write characters of color? They've been given directions and people to talk to. The people who want to know how to have rational and productive discussion? They've gotten directions and people to talk to. The people who want to know how to deal with white privilege and guilt? They've been given directions and people to talk to.
Basically, at this point, anyone claiming they want productive dicussion under those guises is pretty much using it as a cover.
What they're really waiting for is balloons, cookies and a Hallmark/After School Special moment where all the POC come out and give them hugs for daring to step out and say, "People of color are ok!" ( -and then be collectively forgiven for centuries of colonization).
Since they're not getting that, they're throwing fits. "I DID my part, I spoke FOR THEM. WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT?!?!" Etc.
