The Emperor's Heart (playtesting tiem nao pleez)

The Emperor's Heart is a story game of high drama and space wuxia action. The Seven Immortal Eunuchs have taken control of the dynasty, and now vie amongst themselves for power- using the Empire as pawns in their games- crushing planets at a whim. Can your band of outlaws and rebels overthrow the inhuman masters and return peace to the Empire? And what will it cost you along the way?

The Emperor's Heart is designed to get you up and running to play in 10 minutes and play out a full story arc in the course of 2 hours or so. You'll need to print out the game cards, and bring some 6 sided dice, as well as two types of counters for the game (paperclips and pennies work fine).

hey so i ran into kit at the new mall in downtown sf yesterday, and we were talking about how neither of us were at comic-con but how i was going to go to the penny arcade expo in seattle. she mentioned that maybe you'd be interested in going, pre-reg ends on the first, and i got a hotel room to myself, wondering if you were savvy on going or not. just a thought, just a thought.

Not to start fanboying up, but... Do you have a soundtrack / mixtape in mind for this? (I figure if anyone understands the vital game design / soundtrack linkage, it'd be you.)

Great question! I'll really need to think about it, but I wish I could find the soundtrack for The Seven Swordsmen/The Seven Swords of Mt. Tian/Heaven TV series, which was massive inspiration for this idea. I managed to find a copy of the movie soundtrack, which sounds nothing like the tv soundtrack, but this song from the tv series fits it perfectly- epic and moody.



Other than that, I've been listening mostly to asian-am hiphop- perhaps exact in spirit if not tone :)
